Re: What does a pilot have to readback?

I am now teaching the readback (VFR) of runway numbers, altitudes, and the words "hold short of". When cleared to land, I expect my students to state the runway, and state their N number. Same when taxiing. No matter where or when they hear a runway number, they read it back.

Everything else is "wilco" or "looking" or "in sight". Unless it is obviously necessary to clarify something, the only other thing I allow is "right traffic" and "thank you" - not that I am above some friendly comment when things are slow.
