New hire training schedules
Posted: 03-24-2009, 10:17 AM I also had one more question from my visit to Minnie Center.
Next year sometime I will be finishing CTI and doing my 2 months or so down in OKC, then will be sent to my prospective Center. When I get there, it normally takes 3 years or so to become a fully functional controller right? Will I be doing shift work during this time, or is more normal 9-5 Mon-Fri type thing like I have read about? And how does your pay start and change through these 3 years? Thank you in advance for any info.. just trying to educate myself as much as possible. |

Re: New hire training schedules
Posted: 03-24-2009, 10:36 AM it all depends on the facility.
i was working 730-400 during my classroom work at my facility...then after that i moved to shiftwork..and your days off will follow your OJTI's (if your OJTI's have friday saturday off...so will you) your pay starts at 37 or so thousand a year..then it increases as you go up in the develomental stages, D1 D2 D3 CPC...those levels depend on the number of positions you have to certify in. as for the 3 year...in enroute i have no idea but im pretty sure they take longer then a terminal environment and the time frame all depends on the developmental |

Re: New hire training schedules
Posted: 03-24-2009, 10:44 AM Generally you'll do a "9-5" type shift while doing classroom training and sims. Once you get out on the floor and assigned to a trainer, you'll follow their schedule. Once you get checked out on that position you'll usually build up some proficiency time. After a certain amount of time, you'll go back to the classroom and return to the "9-5" shift and start the process over again.
