Posted: 02-05-2011, 12:59 AM Not to step on any toes here, but, the FAAs table tops are horrible. They make the students walk around with the A/C and in most cases the students have no idea the A/C characteristics or performance.
This one time, well here, I had a C172 make it from Owasso to base in less than a minute.... |

It can be a useful tool for seeing the 3rd dimension to the pattern etc. Out instructors told us right up front that the inconsistency in aircraft speeds would be frustrating, but that the table tops are designed primarily to develop phraseology. It is a necessary evil as a stepping stone into the simulators for those with no aviation experience.
