So im sure this was answered already somewhere....BUT do you get your "salary" (10ish/hr based on 8hours)plus the per diem (70ish/day)?? or if there is a forum that you know to point me in? Just trying to guesstimate a budget for bills and shit. Unless I win the lotto ahhh to dream...

yes...you will go to the travel office after the first 15days to fill out your first travel voucher. then every 30 days after that, or you can wait till the end and get a big lump sum. it will post to your account separate from your regular paycheck

your FOL should contain how much your salary will be at the academy as well as AG pay

ways you bank on perdiem... stay isola bella... eat breakfast (FOR FREE), pack a lunch for class, and then eat dinner (FOR FREE)...

packing a lunch, although "UNCOOL" saves a ton of money over eating at the Cafeteria at the Academy... so does switching to Geico.

i took it a step further, and most days I would grab a to go box to bring some of whatever dinner was home with me...then just reheat it for lunch

I pocketed the food per diem by withdrawing it from the ATM in 20's and folding it in half. It fits easier that way. You can ask to change for bigger bills though, at the FAA Credit Union, if you have small pockets.
