How do you pocket the food per diem?
Posted: 02-21-2010, 02:24 AM As I understand it, the FAA will riemburse you after your first 15 days and then monthly after that with a travel voucher and reciepts for your food per diem.
My question is, if they require reciepts how do you pocket any of the money you don't spend. I will be living at Kims Place and I have been told by multiple people she keeps everything stocked and full. Obviously trying to save some money anywhere I can. |

Re: How do you pocket the food per diem?
Posted: 02-21-2010, 02:32 AM you dont need any receipts for the food you buy. theyll just give you the fixed $40 a day for food. figure you'll get to pocket a nice amount by the end of your time here pending you dont go out all the time for food.

Posted: 02-21-2010, 03:48 PM You don't need receipts. You just file your voucher and you get the full food amount for each day you are filing for.

Re: How do you pocket the food per diem?
Posted: 02-21-2010, 09:22 PM Not only can you pocket some per diem by not spending the full meal allowance but you can also pocket unused housing allowance. For example, the current maximum long-term housing allowance is $50.40 per day. If you stay at a property that charges $40 then you pocket $10.40 per day. Winchester Run has a special new hire ATC rate starting at $35 which would allow you to save $15 per day just on the housing portion of your per diem alone; this adds up to an extra $450 per month! Winchester Run has all of the basis ammenities you expect and then some. Give Winchester Run a look and see why so many students choose us!

Re: How do you pocket the food per diem?
Posted: 02-21-2010, 10:35 PM It's quiet simple actually...If your there 35 days for training that 7 weeks which equates to 49 days, you can buy Ramen Noodles 3 for $1.00, that's breakfast, lunch, and supper for $1.08(Tax included) X 49 days = $52.92. Per diem is $40 X 49 = $1,960 - $52.92 = $1907.08 That's how you get the most out of your per diem!
