    Maine!

Hello everyone. This is a first time post for this ATC wannabe. I'm quite thankful for this website, it's certainly been a lot of fun being a satallite to all these threads and absorbing all this info. I'm new to the air traffic controlling community and just started my 2nd semester at an AT-CTI school in Denver, CO. I submitted my first application and added to the number of all the hopefuls for the most recent pubnat.

I'm posting because I did a few searches on Bangor, Maine and Portland, Maine (two highly preferred locations for me) but nothing seemed to arrise. I'm hopeful for one of those two locations, perferably Bangor, but I can't find any information on either location. I've Googled, I've Yahoo Searched, I've Asked Jeeves, and I'm running low on options for where I should turn next.

    What I'm wondering, is...
    1. How much that particular location is hurting for controlers?
    2. How popular that location is...i.e. how far back in line I'd be waiting to get it.
    3. How long would I wait for that location to open?

Obviously, these are amateur questions, and i'm apparently a newbie. But please bear with me and fill me in on the waiting processes involved and please give me as much information on Maine as possible. I'm hoping very strongly for a location in that state. Thanks to any and all who will help out!

Here is the latest staffing information for the facilities you were looking for:

    BANGOR INTL ATCT
    Bangor, Maine

Type of Facility: Air Traffic Control Tower

Authorized certified controllers & trainees: 20
Number of certified controllers, actual: 16
    Number of trainees, actual: 1
    Percent staffed: 85
    Number of certified controllers
eligible for retirement at end of fiscal 2007: 6

    PORTLAND INTL ATCT
    Portland, Maine

Type of Facility: Air Traffic Control Tower

Authorized certified controllers & trainees: 23
Number of certified controllers, actual: 18
    Number of trainees, actual: 1
    Percent staffed: 83
    Number of certified controllers
eligible for retirement at end of fiscal 2007: 11

Also...I'm at a tower that is near 130% staffed and we are still getting more people so...who knows what's up with that.

Here are a few links to other controllers experience with the public announcement process...this should give you a better idea of where you are at in the process....also...all this information that I have provided in this thread, you can find under the "Useful ATC Information" thread.

Is this the information off the website you have posted in another thread? I was searching through the website but their information didnt seem very up to date. Did you have another one that has the MOST recent info?

    Thanks!

I can tell you that Bangor is a level 6. I can't recall the level of Portland. I don't imagine it is much higher than Bangor...

    Re: Maine!

Can someone tell me the update stats for Bangor Maine and PWM? I am trying to get into one of these two locations and am a retired Air Force Air Traffic Controller. I am currently working in Afghanistan and will be moving back to the state shortly. Does anyone else know if there are any positions coming available or are they using the RMC program? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated....
