Gs in relation to ischemic blockeage.
Posted: 08-25-2010, 12:58 AM

dear dr. orsak. I am a 56 year old disabled into early retirement by ischemic stroke at 49 inside branch/right corotid. i am active in trying to arrange a jet trainer 'check-ride' dream I've had forever. and would ask what the rstrictive concern would there be in terms of Gs be on such a ride with a 95 % blockage in my right corotid inside branch? it seems that during another source query the source was able to indicatestandard manuevering and 'rolls' as no probable issue but advised against loops and tight high speed outside turns. and that was in response to a piston T-6 or SNJ type plane ride. now i'm speaking of an L-39 albatross jet trainer capable of 490 knots. would you be concerned for my safety?
Thanks for the consideration!

Yes I would. There is not way to predict how you would respond to any stress with in the air. Strokes are very serious things and always with bad outcomes.

Thanks.
Yes, most definately bad outcomes. i was just thinking Gs on a blocked artery would probably have been understood or looked in to by the flight surgeon 'field' I guess I'll have to go with the opinion of my primary care physician or my neurologist.
