USN Controller with Back Problems
Posted: 01-30-2012, 12:57 PM Hello there,
I was instructed to give this a try on ask a flight surgeon. So let me begin by saying I am a very dedicated AC in the Navy and have advanced very quickly for the time I have been in. Some say might say too quickly but hey Im not complaining. I have basic experience as a controller in the navy and do posses a CTO. My goal with joining the military was to become and air traffic controller and then jump ship to the FAA. Currently I have a little over a year remaining and met with an unfortanate back injury that has left me limited duty. With that being said I can still control but am not deployable. Being at a sea command that is not favorable so It looks like i will be transfered to TPU until I can hopefully get better. What worries me the most is I am still a controller and g-d damnit if this isnt what I want to do for the rest of my life but I am coming up on 28 years old and dont want my actions in the military to affect my career with the FAA (fingers crossed). My question is pretty basic.. Will I be able to be hired on with the FAA if I have a bad back/ back surgery(s). Again thank you for your time and expertise. |
