Misdiagnosis of PTSD
Posted: 08-16-2012, 09:41 AM

Doc,

I was misdiagnosed with PTSD when I separated from service. The doctor asked me if I had ever been exposed to a stressful situation in service, which of course, most of us have. I was given the diagnosis and disability, but after counseling went back to the VA with concerns that the diagnosis didn't fit. I was examined by the VA doctor and determined that I, in fact, did NOT have PTSD but simply had a stressful situation that I reacted to normally.
My record states that I have been misdiagnosed and that I do not have PTSD. It is still listed under the disabilities portion of my record, simply because they have not gotten to it, I'm assuming?
Do you believe this will be an issue? It seems to be what is holding up my medical clearance.

It should not be an issue.
