Speech/hearing...almost dulled to rockstar levels
Posted: 07-13-2009, 01:53 AM This is kind of difficult to come out with, so bear with me.
I've played in a very LOUD, seven piece band for about the last five years, and am now an aspiring controller. My medical issue is this: I KNOW that my hearing has been dulled just a tad bit, and consequently, my formerly immaculately clean enunciation has also been dulled just that little bit. You know how old rock stars start to kind of slur their speech all the time? It's not only because of drugs and alcohol (a different issue altogether), but largely due to extensive hearing loss from their consistent exposure to ridiculous volumes. Well, I have the (not so) fashionable beginnings of that going on. It's not really noticeable except with a few select syllables of the English language. I'm just wondering, how stringent are the requirements are for this? Thank you |

Posted: 07-13-2009, 05:24 PM There is a hearing test done and I think the requirement are for a no greater than a 30 decibel hearing loss.
