History of Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome
Posted: 01-01-2010, 11:11 PM 1996, age 16, Advanced Biology Field Trip - Volunteer for EKG demonstration, told to see a PCP, given the printout. PCP referred to Cardiologist.
1997, age 17, underwent radio-frequency ablation of an accessory pathway @ Michigan Heart in Ann Arbor, other pathways untouched, too close to sinus node. Early 1998, age 17, attempted delayed enlistment into the USMC, denied due to still having accessory pathway. Summer 1998, age 18, underwent radio-frequency ablation of last accessory pathway @ Michigan Heart in Ann Arbor, resulting in normal EKG. Fall 1998, age 18, several trips to MEPS, several trips to specialists, received medical waiver from Bethesda Navel Hospital. Successfully enlisted into USMC. Spring 1999, age 18, shipped out to MCRD Parris Island, immediately given red wrist band, referred to more docs at Beaufort Navel Hospital. Spring 1999, age 19, (turning 19 at Parris Island isn't fun) sent home with RE-3P reenlistment code, DD-214 shows "Entry Level Separation under Erroneous Conditions" 2000 - 2005 A few "possible" instances of elevated heart rate, checked out at local hospitals, normal EKG, no issues. 2006, age 26, underwent Heart echo, EKG tests at University of Kentucky's Gill Heart Institute. Normal, clean bill of health. 2007, age 27, followup at Gill Heart Institute. No change. The only thing that's noticeable are infrequent skips, and a short lived irregular heartbeat after a particularly hard sneeze. |
