Class One Medical: IDDM.
Posted: 02-01-2010, 07:07 PM

Hello,

I am considering a career in the aviation industry. I am currently IDDM (Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus); and very prompt with my treatment. I currently even hold an A1C level of 5.6.

I was wondering; if IDDM patients may get a Class One medical? Or are they only allowed for a Class Three? (From what I understand no major airline hires Class Threes)

No, you will not be able to get a Class one. Yes, the airlines require a class one as well.
Sorry.
