Training and NATCA involvement?
Posted: 02-24-2010, 12:06 AM I am a Developmental and very interested in getting involved in NATCA (i.e. Training/Academy courses, meetings and events) but don't know if I am able or i would get frowned upon since I'm still in training. I am in the Union, but i know since i am still in training and in my probationary period I want to know how involved i can be.

Posted: 02-24-2010, 09:45 AM Knowlton,
You can and should be involved in as much as you would like and are comfortable with, and we stand ready to help you, beginning with your Facility Representative and any NATCA Reloaded reps in your building or region. Taking part in training courses, meetings and events, even participation in national events such as Communicating for Safety or NATCA in Washington, would be encouraged. You should avoid running for fac rep or another position that would put you in a direct labor/management role, however, while you're still in your probationary period. But other than that, we'd love to have you involved and can help with anything you need. -Doug |
