I am currently a cpc-it at a facility. I was previously fully certified at a lower level facility for years and am wanting to swap with someone at a different facility now. I have read article 42 section 9 and it says i must be certified for at least a year. I am wondering if i have to have been fully certified at this new facility for at least a year, or right when i check out can i swap, since i was already fully certified at a different facility for over a year?

First of all, I URGE you strongly to contact your fac rep or RVP. This must be handled with the assistance and input of either/both your fac rep and your RVP. Very, very important.

FWIW, below is what I received from another member by way of info.:

"(contract) says certified at his/her facility, meaning CURRENT facility, so the time requirement is not met. Would the swap be more that 3 levels higher than last facility the CPC-IT was certified at? If so, I would not expect it to have any chance of it being approved.

However, depending on the relationship with local FACREP and management, it MAY be possible to swap if management can be convinced that they are better off just swapping now if the CPC-IT isn't very far along in training and the facility doesn't have a lot of time invested in the CPC-IT and it would be a waste of time to train the CPC-IT when he/she will be leaving asap after certifying.

I don't think management HAS to approve this but you MAY be able to convince them to.
