Reinstatements
Posted: 04-14-2012, 08:54 AM

Just wondering if NATCA knows anything about what the FAA is doing with reinstatements?
Passed up on a 3rd panel. As a former AT10 CPC I'd think that I'd be a good candidate to be picked back up. Seen several posts on stuck mic of other reinstatements not being picked up.
Getting information out of the hiring panels has been pretty much impossible.
Any information at the national level on the hiring of reinstatements?

I am curious what is found out. I am just starting the process last bid cycle and was passed over although I started small with my state choices. Next bid I will be heavy on it. Jamis, hearing your story has me concerned

"butchcassidy,"

If you want to send me your name, I'll try and find out something for you as well if you'd like. Or, as you said, wait until after your next bid, which we hope for you is successful.

I was pretty narrow on my networking, and I think it has worked against me. Trying to not totally uproot my family again, but it's starting to look like I might not have much choice.
But you'd think that with AT10 CPC time, the agency would happily plug me into any available hole, networking or not. Seems they are hiring plenty of cheap new hires instead.

Network your ass off.

What would be nice is if bids for harder to staff facilities would include reinstatements. Seems awful narrow minded of the agency to have facilities on 6 day work weeks putting bids out every few months and not considering reinstatements as a valid staffing source.

Thanks for the advise. I can certainly see how this process gets frustrating. Its probably what the FAA is best known for. Actually, all of us controllers trying to get hired should fail the psyc testing, we are all crazy.

Ps-keep your eyes open for FAI, I hear they bid for reinstatements frequently lmao

FAI....is that fairbanks? If I took that job, I'd be going by myself.....wife would divorce my ass.
Trying to stay in TX; i would take Fla or NC.

I'm just not sure I get why the FAA isn't working harder on getting experienced controllers back in the game.
