Biographical Assessment

The bio-data assessment was designed in cooperation with the FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) and its determinations are backed by a body of Human Factors research. This test has been proven to be a valid instrument for assessing experience, work habits, education and dimensions that are related to success on the job. The bio-data assessment is administered prior to the AT-SAT test. If you qualify following the bio-data assessment, you will be referred to take the AT-SAT test.

Now for the real story....

The Biographical Assessment has been under plenty of scrutiny since it was launched in February 2014. Out of approximately 28,000 applicants for air traffic control, less than 3,000 people passed the assessment. Many of the failed applicants were current air traffic controllers and some even previous FAA air traffic controllers. This matter has been elevated to the air traffic controllers union as well as the Senate and Congress. Attempts have been made to understand how perfectly qualified applicants would be disqualified on this assessment.

After taking the AT-SAT a member of StuckMic posted the questions that were on the Biographical Assessment in order to help the community better understand how the questions were being utilized. This member was contacted by the FAA and his application terminated for posting the information. You can view this thread along with all the questions on the Biographical Assessment here!
