Help a fellow controller out! lol

If you get a moment then check the link, register and show some "support".

Tucson Lightning bring the F-35 Lightning, to the Arizona Air National Guard base at Tucson International Airport

The Arizona Air National Guard based out of Tucson International is in the running to upgrade their F16's to the new F35's. They are the current front runners to win the opportunity to host this new jet but are receiving some opposition from the public, mainly from fear of noise. They dont see the added benefit of JOBS and Money for the city, surrounding communities and the airport.

They dont spam emails or anything like that. You dont even need to be an AZ resident... just someone who supports the mission, lol. Thanks

Its also an interesting read about the new F35 fighter jet.

The AZ ANG trains foreign pilots of ally countries who purchase F16 jets from the US. The F16 is being phased out and not built anymore. If the ANG here doesn't win the bid for the new jet fighter then there will not be a need for then here to train on an out dated jet. If the ANG leaves Tucson it will take a few thousand jobs with it

And bring them somewhere else. There's no net increase or decrease in jobs here. Hell, for all I know they could wind up at the ANG base in NH.

Well, then dont f***ing register, geez. Im glad you want to see people lose their jobs because they cant afford to relocate where their new job will be. I am just trying to help so I posted it. If you dont like it then move to the next thread.

You know how people are... they just want to complain about something. Are the F35s louder than the F16s?... yes. Can a random person a few miles from the airport hear a plane and say "Thats a F35, not a F16"?... doubt it.

Also, the F35 can depart using less power, where an F16 may have to use the afterburner for certain configurations. Sound shouldnt be an issue IMO but I guess im missing something, lol. People buy new houses next to a military base that has A10's and an International Airport that runs F16s and airliners... then want to complain about noise. I dont get it.

As far as the noise goes it depends on what the Aicuz study says. Its a study about the noise effects and how far reaching they go. It gets published and distrubuted to anyone in the public that wants it. Usually via a chamber of commerce. Second, the Air Force version of the F35 won't have the adjustable nozzle. Only the USMC version will. And thirdly, the aicuz study for the F35 is very close to the same noise levels as the F4's from back in the day.

Actually the models we would be getting do have the nozzles... they are already planning on strengthening a portion of the runway to handle the added abuse.
