Posted: 02-24-2010, 10:39 PM

hey everyone,

I currently work in a 24 hour facility with 7 rated bodies and 8 trainees who are PQ'd on at least 1 position. I have been trying to figure out a schedule for the facility the gives maximum time off with out causing the the trainees training to suffer and adhereing to all applicible regs. was curious what has worked best for everyone else. please help.

TowerFlower,
I need some more information before I can make any suggestions, level facility, are you guys and up/down, do you keep the radar after midnight, etc.

Most Level 7's require 6 controllers for each shift except for the midnight shifts which normally go down to 2 controllers. At the minimum I can see a 5-1-5-2 type schedule which is 5 open, 1 comes in at 10 or 11 am, and 5 work the afternoon shift, and 2 on the mid. If you give up the approach after midnight then legally you can go down to 1 on the mid.

I use to do the schedules for one of the facilities that I worked at, so I know the challenges that you are facing.
