Center Building Condition
Posted: 02-26-2010, 11:34 AM

I've seen many pictures of the various centers in the U.S. Most of them look old and very similar from the outside. I am assuming that most of these buildings are from the 50's and 60's, so when does the FAA plan on either renovating or building new center buildings?

When the cost of building a new center becomes lower than the cost of renovating an existing building.

One per FAA Service Area, just like the Operations Control Centers. I can see that.

ZOA was under some construction when I took a tour there last July. I have never been inside ZSE but it blends in well with all of the trailer parks and dilapidated buildings on the reservation around it.... but the casino across the street is classy looking.

that was just asbestos removal and handicap-friendly upgrades. there was a controller in a wheelchair that couldn't get to the control room, now she can.

by the time people who are recent hires retire almost all of us will be co-workers, cause all radar functions will be in a west central and east building and all towers will be contract
