Deleted question because it was stupid and forums are not the place for religious questions, thanks!

i don't think there is any way to give them that information. you would just have to keep that in mind when making your selections.

and even if you could provide them with that information, and they made a hiring decision based on that information, it would be in violation of the whole Equal Employment Opportunity thing. While it may not be discrimination, it certainly could be considered preferential treatment.

In all reality I think there is zero chance they take that into consideration.

Just a quick note, the hiring environment right now is not one where you want to limit your options too much. IE you might have to decide whether living near family is more important than the level of devotion that the local synagogue exhibits. Being too selective may be the thing that causes you to not get hired.

Also if you believe in keeping the Sabbath holy, this isn't the job for you. You WILL be REQUIRED to work on Friday/Saturday/Sunday(depending on which day you consider holy) especially while low in seniority.

Cool, thanks. Working Saturdays isn't a problem etc. for various reasons, I'll select my states according to the feedback. Thanks!

You could pick the states you like, and specify counties (since both KS an WA are big), and if you pick the more populated counties you'll probably be okay. Assuming the FAA sticks to your requested counties, that is, which they might not. They don't even necessarily stick to your requested states.

I can understand wanting to move where there is a Jewish community (especially if you have a family, or you see yourself having one in the near future), but with so many applicants, it seems you're lucky to get assigned anywhere these days.

dtblaser,

One of my good friends is Jewish and a controller. Don't write off Kansas because there are areas that have Jewish communities/facilities. Kansas City is one of them, I know because I visited her and her family several times and she took me to the Jewish community center where I helped teach her son to swim and another time to attend his bar mitzvah. Even if you got assigned to the center option in Olathe, Kansas City was a short drive down the road. My suggestion is to research the areas of the states you wish to work and I bet you'll find that many areas will be able to meet your needs. Also is there not a council of synagogues that might be able to help you in finding one in the area you wish to work?
