You've worked with taxes. You already know the answer.

Drives me nuts that it's being held up because of ideology. Forget personal interest; the system needs modernization and a set budget so, so badly, and a couple of GOPers are bitching about FedEx workers possibly unionizing. I've always considered myself a Centrist, but I'm finding that I've been pushed further and further left the past year or two -- not so much from the Dems doing a fantastic job, but because there's been such an overwhelming amount of pettiness, dishonesty and incompetence from the Republican side. I like it better when I get to choose a candidate over another because they've made a superior case, not because the lesser one is acting like a slimeball. Leonard Pitts did a great article on why it'll either be the downfall of the Republican party or a chance for their restoration if Palin actually makes a run for president: Dear Sarah: Say it is so, run for president - Leonard Pitts Jr. - MiamiHerald.com

Why would she run for president when she has a great career as a stand up comic ahead of her?

Could you pull some specific sections of the bill to show where this is true or could otherwise derive from?

The bill made it to the floor of the Senate this evening. Here's a big 'ol press release/summary (PDF) with lots of bullet points. Among the ones that stand out to me:

Quote:
*Directs the FAA to accelerate planned timelines for integrating Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) technology into the NAS, requiring the use of “ADS-B Out” on all aircraft by 2015 and the use of “ADS-B In” on all aircraft by 2018.

[...]

*Requires the FAA to complete a comprehensive study of how the agency will realign or consolidate ATC facilities as it implements NextGen.

*Establishes a new process to make certain collective bargaining labor disputes at the FAA are adequately resolved through mediation and arbitration, if necessary.
The operations section of the budget gets almost $300 million more for FY11 compared to FY10. I'm assuming that's where money for ATC training comes from, so I take that as a good sign.

In related news, Sen. Corker lifted his hold on the bill (here's a story). The Senate bill still does not have the language in it that the House version does, which would allow Fedex drivers to unionize. Assuming the bill as written passes the Senate, that provision could be added in conference, before it's signed into law.

And one more. The two Idaho senators added a provision that would block the FAA from consolidating Boise TRACON into Salt Lake TRACON until the comprehensive consolidation study is complete.

Back to being postponed, and the FAA is back to the incremental plan. Same issues, but they decided that it wouldn't be worked out by the March 31 deadline.

Three years of punting the ball in three-month increments. Way to get things done, Congress.

I dont see her Running because the Mainstream media and the Liberals ruined her by being duchebags (for the lack of a better word).
Plus Obama is going to fix everything by bypassing the constitution and ramming a Health Care bill down our throats and make us be like Canada.
Hurray!
Id love to live in a country thats gonna be broke in 5 years.
(dont dislike everyone on the left fyi)

You know my right side has to leave a little comment here. You have to look at the big picture of what's being considered. We can't afford any more wasteful spending. Yeah, the FAA needs money, but they don't need another union forcing them to spend more than they need to. Also, this is one bill. Look at all the other nonsense that Congress is wasting their time with. The "left" is even considering forcing a bill through without even having a vote. How is that what's best for the country? Every major poll out there has Congress's approval rating under 25%, don't forget who is in control of our country right now. RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Congressional Job Approval
Also, only 40% polled want this healthcare reform. RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Obama and Democrats' Health Care Plan
Shouldn't the "left" be focusing on something more important like creating more meaningful jobs and not just creating low paying, short term solutions, like this most recent bill?.....which by the way is costing us another few billion.
