Default Anyone Know Anything About SAV?

I got selected for SAV pending PEPC, academy, etc. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about SAV (Savannah International) and would share their information with me? Does anyone here work or has worked at SAV?

Basics that I have read:
2 runways
18 hour facility
newly built tower
roughly 300 operations a day

They border our airspace to the south. I have visited the facility a few times. From what I understand, the working relationship between the controllers and management is pretty good compared to elsewhere in the FAA.

They have some restricted areas and MOAs that go active usually daily which gums up the works a bit. My understanding of it is that everything south of the Rwy 9 extended centerline is unusable as well as the airspace west of the Rwy 36 extended centerline when those areas are active. Excessive coordination with adjacent facilities is a problem.

SAV is overall responsible for HXD arrivals and departures, but since that airport is on the boundary between NBC and SAV airspace extensive coordination is required with NBC approach. (NBC usually works HXD Rwy 21 arrivals and SAV works Rwy 3.)

Good pay for the amount of traffic worked.

Thanks for the response! I am just trying to learn as much about the area, airspace, etc. before I get there.

I notice SAV is basically surrounded by MOAs. Coastal, Bulldog, and Beaufort.

Anything that could be done differently to make things 'smoother' between SAV and NBC?

Working relationship between NBC and SAV is excellent!! Everyone bends over backwards to help the other guy.

As far as the landlines....if we had Letters of Agreement that were worth the paper they were written on that might help!
