Looks like that power point was created back in 2005...typical FAA not acting on it until just now...

Apparently these recommendations were just released. Briefed on them at the 2011 CFS. Not sure about the 2005..

But what would you current controllers think if the rules were changed to allow working 10 hours a day 4 days a week to get the extra day off to literally catch up on missed sleep? Maybe it was mentioned in the PowerPoint, as I just kind of skimmed through it. Kinda curious to hear your thoughts.

Just more proof that FAA management up to now were well aware of the fatigue problem and choose to ignore it instead...

I saw on the news earlier that there were studies done by the FAA that date back all the way to 1997 on controller fatigue.

I can't say how they do things in the FAA. I do know how it went at the facilities I worked at. I hated having two days, two swings, and then two mids. I wish you just did a week of each and at the end of the mid week you get an extra day off to get back to normal. Don't know if it would work for everyone but I think it would work for me.

My facility is currently on 10hr days, you need at least 10 people to make it work. 12 cpcs and its easy. You just need everyone to "play the game" and not use OT.
