LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-04-2008, 04:25 PM I've noticed this on the OIS lately:
LAS DAILY PLANNING TELCON: 0330Z - ACCESS VIA PLANNING TELCON/PIN # Assuming that LAS, here, refers to KLAS why are they having separate TELCONS? |

Re: LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-05-2008, 12:35 AM Because they've got a constant flow program going on due to the ridiculous amount of runway and taxiway construction. I've been in and out of LAS 3 times in the last 3 weeks. It sucks.

Re: LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-05-2008, 12:43 AM they have a runway under construction and won't be back for 5 months. until then, expect GDP, MIT, or time based metering to LAS. here's to hoping LAS doesn't have to change runway configuration at the most inopportune time.

Re: LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-08-2008, 06:52 AM Thanks for the info. I'm fixin' to work at KLAS, and will be traveling there soon, as well.
Where exactly on the property is the construction taking place? Any present runways out of commission? 25/7/19/1? This could explain the extraordinary amount of traffic on the 1 I heard the other day on their live feed. |

Re: LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-08-2008, 04:07 PM The construction is on the south side of the field. If you travel Sunset road you will see it all along the perimeter fence. Runway 25L/7R is the one under construction/replacement as it has meet its 13 year life expectancy. What will you be doing as work at LAS if you don't mind me asking?

Wow, 25L/7R. To my knowledge, that was the preferred arrival runway for almost all airliners from the east. No wonder 1R/1L were absolutely inundated yesterday. That must really complicate matters, seeing as the spatial configuration already merged the 1L/7L holding line as it was. |

Re: LAS Daily Planning TELCON
Posted: 11-08-2008, 09:32 PM I am a tracon TMC. Yes, the loss of 25L has cut our airport capacity in half. We try to be landing 1L/R and departing 7L from an intersection just east of the 1's as much as possible. historical wind data shows that we could be on that runway config 60-80% of the time during the winter months.

Are they giving you a hard time about noise abatement at night? I know they used to abstain from using the 19s/1s at certain hours. |
