Re: Discontinuing Training
Posted: 02-22-2012, 02:15 PM To the OP:
I don't know if it's the same for every facility or region. I'm in the AWP myself. I'm headed from a tower to a TRACON. I jokingly talked about failing on purpose if I didn't like it. I was advised that if I became a training failure, I would be given a list of like 3 (maybe 5) facilities. I would have to choose one of those facilities, or get canned. I'm not saying quit on purpose, and I know everyone has stated "talk to your NATCA rep", which is probably the safest move. Facilities have very different agreements at the local level between NATCA and management, so it's hard to give you a direct answer. Being a CPC-IT though, you should have more options and resources available to you. And to whoever posted about the reason: The reason is irrelevant. Maybe he just doesn't like it there. The weather isn't good enough, the tower isn't cold enough, or he doesn't like the random weekend warrior that flies through. He made a decision and realized it wasn't what it was cracked out to be. If he were a trainee, with no quals at all, I'd be singing a different tune. But he's already proved his worthiness to the agency, so there is some value to him. @Towns2dd - not necessarily. Not everyone makes it. It can be said just the opposite way... "the same applicants who makes these comments will be fired and never able to control". It's generic and doesn't make sense since there are no guarantees. I understand you were speaking in general, but so was the quote above. Arguably, both are true. |
