Re: NORCAL TRACON vs SOCAL TRACON
Posted: 12-28-2008, 01:59 PM that whole washout thing is for the birds, if you dont have confidence your dangerous no matter where you go. Ive been to these level 12 facilities most of them get their traffic count from tons of positions traffic count combined, ive seen some lower level facilities that have less scopes but handle more traffic, theres a sector in n90 new york tracon its called islip sector, they get the level 12 pay but work level 8 traffic but because they are part of the facility they get the pay, you could stay in that sector for 20 years.

Re: NORCAL TRACON vs SOCAL TRACON
Posted: 01-05-2009, 11:13 PM Markthetape I have seen several trainees here at SCT that were so overconfident, they were the first ones to washout. Those are the ones that are scary. They think they are the shitt, when they actually suck the most.
Humble is the key word to making it. |

Re: NORCAL TRACON vs SOCAL TRACON
Posted: 01-07-2009, 10:33 PM The working conditions are great if you like working six eight hour shifts like I do. Training time depends on your background, which area you are assigned to, how the moons are aligned, etc. Training times average from just over one year to sixteen years, give or take three years.
I turned down two facilities until I was offered SCT. I wanted a busy approach control in a cool area. Plus I am from Socal. Win win for me. I have no desire to go anywhere else. Good luck. |

Posted: 01-09-2009, 02:11 AM Roddy I'm not sure what you are talking about. I am dead serious.
![]() Some people will probably retire after 20+ years of being in training. Or they will become a supe. after failing the drug test. |
