Just have whatever email (gmail, aol, yahoo, etc.) you have registered with FAA sent to your Blackberry Device with Service Books. Ask President Barack Obama, he should know.

The FAA uses Lotus Notes for their email. It is very different than any of the services you mentioned.

Although it is easy to send emails into the FAA's Lotus Notes system, it is difficult to sent from Lotus Notes to internet accounts. The sysops at FAA have worked to make it even more difficult, and I am not sure the forwarding function is enabled.

From what I know about it, to send e-mails to a BlackBerry, the e-mail account has to be registered with your wireless provider and the e-mail specifically forwarded to them from your workplace e-mail server. I know at the last place I worked at as a system admin, folks who had BlackBerries were placed into a specific group in Lotus Notes and the main e-mail admin (we only had limited admin rights) had to add them to the BlackBerry server.

The gov't uses Lotus Notes specifically because of the security features built into it. I know for a fact that the NSA worked with Lotus (who is owned by IBM) to develop the encryption and security features present in the system. While it makes the system very secure, it also has its quirks that can become an administrative nightmare unless that is all you have ever dealt with. For someone like myself, who mainly had experience with Exchange/Outlook, the processes you had to go through in order to perform some relatively basic tasks (like adding a user) were a bit tedious.
