Cute subtitle. "A Proactive Approach".
Man, if I were CTI, I'd consider it pretty seriously. At the rate that FAA training is moving, you'll be well on your way to checking out before you'd even start your first day of class at MMAC. |

Re: For you CTI Grads
Posted: 01-02-2010, 11:33 PM If I read all of that correctly a CTI graduate would have had to take the CTO written in order to apply? We did not take that test at my school. The only test we took was the test that is given at the end of academy basics. Can the CTO test be taken by anyone or does it have to be taken through a course?

I finally broke down and read it and if I understood it correctly you would take the CTO exam(assuming you passed) and then go to work for a FCT where they would train you and you would have to sign a written agreement saying you will work for them for two years after they train you and then after that you can transfer to a FAA facility.
There are two things I noticed though...1) It said that CCBC and Middle Georgia were the only two that could train people for a CTO, but they can't do that anymore due to some new regulation and 2) This thing was published in September 2008 and here we are in January 2010 sixteen months later. Has anything more come of this? |

Re: For you CTI Grads
Posted: 01-04-2010, 08:27 PM I was under the impression that FCT's only hired experienced controllers. I was thinking about applying to one after I graduate, but I was informed I need at least 2 years controlling experience. Can someone clarify?

Re: For you CTI Grads
Posted: 01-04-2010, 09:53 PM Your right, but what this said is basically they want to change it to where FCT's train you and you sign a contract saying you'll work for them for two years and after that you would transfer to a FAA facility bypassing the academy and go straight to training at your facility, and based on how good you did at your FCT facility would determine what level FAA facility you go to. But that's just the "plan", there hasn't been any action taken on it that I know of so far.
