OK Folks, Here's the ultimate question...
As a previous CPC FAA controller (2152) (not DOD, not FSS etc etc) coming back to the FAA under the reinstatement vacancy at a level 6 facility, how much can I expect the pay to be A: At the academy B: As a trainee at my facility C: As a CPC at my facility. Not sure whether or not to come back....would like to, but have the sinking feeling that I'm looking at a HUGE pay cut. Also, what are the prospects for higher pay in future? I'm assuming a lot of it will depend on the upcoming election.....but are there current negotiations to get back some of the pay that was lost?

Also, is there a bonus associated with reinstatement? I know there is with VRA, but it seems very few people are applying through reinstatement.....

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you would be reinstated with the new pay scale. Also, based on the bonus information from my FOL, I'm pretty sure you would be eligible...just have to give them your resume and certification.

Re: OK Folks, Here's the ultimate question...
i applied for the reinstatement and the vra. the vra announcement is the only i got referred for. i wish i knew what the pay would be. since the first time i was faa it was green book i would hope for some sort of save pay and keep the green book pay band (not to exceed the white book). of course this is wishful thinking. realistically i would tend to think we would end up at AG pay for your facility level plus OKC locality while at the academy.
btw i think FOL is either Family Occupational Leave or Firm Offer Letter

Were you a military controller also? I tried to apply under VRA but my application came back as ineligible. I'm currently being processed through reinstatement, but the new pay scale means a whopping great pay cut......there seem to be very few of us eligible through the reinstatement bid, so it's hard to get any information about possible bonus etc. It does seem that we would go in under the new pay scale though...ugh!

Re: OK Folks, Here's the ultimate question...
yes, i was former military. u may be ineligible under VRA because it's been longer than 3 years since you separated. one way to be eligible for longer than 3 years is to have an expeditionary medal. that's the only way i'm still eligible. got an expeditionary from PSAB Saudi Arabia. i think the global war on terrorism is also qualifying. don't quote me on that though.
i'm not sure theres very many people who knows the answer to your pay question. i would even bet that there are some at HR that doesn't know it. it's just a new situation since the IWR. prior to that no one ever resigned, especially after making CPC.

Re: OK Folks, Here's the ultimate question...
To be eligible, you also need to have 52 weeks of controlling experience (with your certification.....I don't think training time counts) within two years of the closing date of whatever announcement you apply for.

This 52 weeks within last 2 years is ONLY for the $20K bonus. NOT to be eligible under the VRA announcement. The 52 weeks under the VRA announcement need not be within the last 2 years. It could be at anytime. Most VRAs have those 52 weeks at some point.
