pass on the SRB. you'll make it up in less than 3 years. then you'll far surpass it throughout your career.

obviously it has to be a personal choice. your age is the key. if your 29 or less then i would do it for sure.

pass pass pass... go faa... no uniform, no pt, no f%cking commanders calls that you have to go to after you get off work. there's still bullshit to deal with, but definitely not on military level...

gtfo of the service and go FAA... 20k signing bonus plus making more the day you start at your facility than you are in the service...

and if your lucky you can add VA disability...

and get paid to train while in the faa from the GI Bill...

hell best decision i never had to deal was getting out... did i want to reenlist? a part of me did... but when i found out i had an in to the faa... done deal and best decision i ever made... right up there with divorce...

If you don't have a CTO I would not get out. That CTO comes in real handy when it comes to paying the bills while you wait for the FAA to get its excrement co-located. If you're RADAR only; you are stuck in the sandbox while you wait. There are more tower slots than RADAR there too. Can't go wrong being dual rated. You may want to start networking now to go DOD. If you got picked up at a decent pay level, you might not even worry about the FAA. Bottomline, you have to figure out what you really want. Not all the things your NCO's/Chiefs tell you to pursuade you to stay is blowing smoke up your ass. Take the time to listen and evaluate your circumstances. If you have a family, it's even a tougher call. Do have a solid plan B if the FAA doesn't pan out.
