TOL and clearances guarantee a spot??
Posted: 03-16-2010, 10:33 PM

So, I asked my regional HR rep that "since I am now fully cleared with a TOL in hand, does this guarantee me to get hired at some point"?
She skated around the question and said she is unable to speculate on that. Anybody have a direct answer to this??...

Thanks in advance!....

pretty much...what she was referring to was probably the length of time it would take to get a class date.

Tenative Offer Letter...keyword there...TENTATIVE. You are NOT guaranteed to be hired in the future. Odds are you will though.

Yeah, I want to do this. I have a contract setup to go cct in the usaf so I wanted to know for sure, so that I could let my recruiter know.
She said I may or may not hear anything from 9 months to 2 years, who knows. That it is contingent on a spot opening up. Not exactly reassuring to say the least. Thanks guys....

The TENTATIVE portion only speculates that it's tentative on you getting all your clearances. There is no mention of any other circumstance that could result in the "offer" being withdrawn.

I don't remember anybody posting about getting a TOL, all of their clearance, and then not getting the job. I guess would the only thing would be if you go and get a DUI, or something else to revoke your clearance, or you decide you don't want it any more. You've got your clearances, you're ready to go, they've already spent thousands of dollars on you, why would they give you the boot?

When I talked to my hr rep SF a couple weeks ago she referred to where we are as 'in process' which according to her is much different to even being on a list somewhere. I guess once you are in process -TOL clearances etc- it is their main goal to finish that process -FOL class date etc- so I think we are golden

imo, chances are very good that you will eventually end up as an FAA employee...when and where is to be determined. The FAA spends a lot of money during the initial hiring "process". But, who really knows, I'm just thinking logically.

Kinda hard to get a DUI when you're working from 8am to 9pm then going right to bed.
