I didn't read the thread cause I'm lazy. I'm ex military now faa.

Fastest way would be 2yr school out of college. Then get a wq and apply. While you wait see if you can get a dispatcher license... That's aviation related and easier to get hired. Prolly be in the faa by 25.

It's not "the best route", but its Def the fastest

This again begs the question - is the poster's desire to "be an ATC" or work for the FAA? Studying and waiting is not being an ATC - be all you can be - join the service,

Here the plan:http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publi...a/CWP_2012.pdf

Yeah I would like to be an ATC for the FAA.

Thanks for the link RFDATM, the chances look pretty good!

The fastest way to get picked up by the FAA is having both two of two things. 1/2 your good 2/2 your golden. the first one is: your awesome. the second is your even more awesome. It really comes down to how awesome you are!

Dang it seems like 20 years old is awfully young to be getting into the FAA. Will I be given equal consideration to someone who is a little older?

I haven't read the entire thread, but there is something to consider that I haven't seen posted on here: An independent review panel just looked into the FAA's hiring system, and they suggested 40-something changes to be made. From what I've been told by my instructors at FSCJ, the FAA plans on implementing all of them by Fall 2013.

To the OP, I would go to a two year Level 4 CTI school (it has a Tower w/ lab, Radar/Non-Radar w/ lab, and TRACON with lab), then worry about continuing your education while you wait to be hired. From what I am hearing, you will now be considered for hire based off a point system, and OTS will once again be allowed to apply. If you go to a L4 CTI school, you get 40 extra points to your score (L3 would be 30, etc etc). Your ATSAT score will not count as 15-25% of your score (that is what the review suggested, FAA will probably bump that up).

This is somewhat speculation, because nobody knows for sure how the FAA will adjust things, but it's looking like this will be how it goes. Either way, you definately want to get your foot in the door ASAP, that is why most people will suggest a two year program. The FAA could not care less if you have an A.S. or a PhD.

I just got picked up.. and I'm sehr jung. They don't see your age when they're making selections, and it's technically illegal to discriminate based on age (I know discrimination law is hard to prove/disprove in court and most people will discriminate on age if they can find out your age blah blah blah)

And getting hired at 20, probably doesn't mean working for the FAA at 20, hahaha
