I'm interested in ERR to D01 (Denver TRACON). Can anyone give me some insight into the training there (and/or washout rate), cost of living in Denver or suburbs and possibility of any openings in the near future?

Thanks!

I thought they recently had a bid out there.... Did you bid on it?

Denver is a great facility, but with only one year of radar experience at a level 7, the odd would be greatly against you. I know it's not what you want to hear/read, but it would better to go to a smaller approach, spend a few years there and get experience, and then transfer to Denver TRACON. But, do what you think is right. If you want D01, go for it.

The biggest challenges there are rapidly changing weather conditions and lots of go arounds with crosswind landings when landing on North or South configuration.

This video is a favorite of mine from D01.

I am fairly certain I know who you are talking about. I was in RTF with your friend who transfered to D01 from ZDV. Nice guy.

I know the jump from 7 to 11 is extreme. I would be ok with going to COS as a springboard or some 9 or 10 somewhere first (SLC)? I got accepted to take the C90 assessment, however, so maybe that could give me some credit.

D01's a 12 now, has been for a while. Use extreme caution with C90.
