HR has the go "ahead" to hire me. But when?

I just got off the phone with my HR rep. I was told that all of my necessary clearances have been received and that I'm good to go. But she said that I will have to continue to wait until a slot opens up at Salt Lake ARTCC before I can be given a class date. How long have you all waited, and does anyone know anything about the current state of Salt Lake and when they will be pulling new hires into their facility?

Uh yeah we just got a CPC from there here at ZOA and even though she thinks our traffic and procedures and messed up she made it sound like a prison camp over there... Supes camped out to get people for what ever reason they can. They also staff posotions that are NOT needed to keep there Time On Position up high which we never do here.

Did he end up in a hard area?

Many ZOA controllers work at NCT....I have never heard of any washing. Does NCT have "slow" areas like NCT and a few bruisers?

Then again maybe ZLC does not have anything nasty that would prepare people for approach.

I'm not from Utah, I'm from Florida. However, I lived in Nevada for 5 years and worked with ZLC controllers every day and visited Salt Lake a couple of times and I fell in love with the city. I can't wait to go. Looks like it won't be until next fiscal year anyways...
