Help!!

wow, I cant believe this just happened, Im a March 2012 selectee and I just got called today for a class date!! The problem is, I have my brothers wedding, sisters wedding, vacation planned, and I pilot training contract. Im assuming im the first in line to go to my facility if their calling me this quickly. I honestly have so much important things in my life right now that I cant take this quick of a class date. I asked my HR rep if I didnt take it, would it hurt me in the process and he said absolutely not, and that someone dropped out so their trying to fill a spot very quickly. The class date is in like 3 weeks!! Am I burning a bridge here or what??

Likely there is someone else they will just offer the class date to, and you will get offered the next available... Which could be a month later, or a year later you never know depends what staffing needs are at the facility. Where you heading?

It could be a long while until you get another class date. You should've asked when can you expect another if you decline it. For some it's been a couple more months, I've seen others end up waiting a year or 2. Since there's probably others in front of you who had to turn down that date, they eventually got to you. But then those same others could take a later class date, so then that pushes you back further. So yah, I'd ask how many are in front of you and see how long it would take to get another class date.

Not sure if a congrats is in order, so I won't say it.

Im heading to ZOB, less than 3 months from selection to being offered a class date... Crazy man. They say its better to have an offer than not.... I dunno about that in my case haha

Yea ive thought about that, but at the same time, I just got my all clear last friday, so im assuming theirs not that many in front of me...??


My HR rep originally said dont expect a class date until October at the earliest

People get class dates based on TOL dates. If people who have sooner TOL's don't have their all clears yet then they won't be offered a date. But if they get the all clears later, then they are ahead of you.

I can understand having stuff going on, I myself have 2 weddings to go to this fall but if im offered a date I'm taking it, and I'm sure family would understand its somehing that has to be done and you Don't have much control over it.

Yea I know, Im not saying I have more than anyone, but right now it couldnt be any worse timing, Like I said, Im so grateful, but at the same time im screaming noooooooooo haha

If I were you I would take it. Think of the vacation you could take once you CPC. And if these weddings are on a weekend maybe you can still make them.

I know, my head says take it, but the rest of me says no... The weddings are on weekends, but i could never take the chance of going away and missing/cancelled flights and not make it back for class... I also have a 22,000 dollar pilot training contract that I would have to fight to not pay back...
