do you have to completely finish the security investigation and interview before you start the academy? I have not yet been contacted for the security interview after getting my TOL in march. my hr rep told me they just need an 'initial' security clearance and then the in-depth one is 'ongoing'. just curious if that is going to affect when i am offered a class... if they have to wait until the interview is over then it could be a long time! also, does everyone have to do the interview or just people they have questions about? thanks.

It does not affect your class date as long as you are initially cleared.

the majority of people don't do a security interview. and yes the official security clearance won't be done for a while. you have nothing to worry about

The initial clearance is just based on how you answer the questionaire, so if you didnt put down that your name is bin laden or that you currently abuse crack cocain or something like that, you will receive an initial clearance to be able to start at the academy. The full clearance process can take a year or more. If they have questions about your answers to the questionaire they will call you for an interview, but not everybody has to do that and if you do it doesnt necessarily mean anything is wrong. If you leave out out information or lie, however, they will find out, and if you have already started you will be fired on the spot.

cool the only possible negatives i have are a few traffic tickets and one job I had where the company went out of business so I can't give any references or anything. sounds like I'll be okay. thanks guys
