I doubt it's just a box you check on a form, and submit. |

Each situation and facility is different so therefore each situation is handled differently. If your spouse moves in order for you to ask for a hardship transfer then I would say no. Kids involved or not, that very scenario happened here and it was denied a short while ago. Seriously, the chances that someone in their 20s that was JUST hired could have a REAL hardship is slim at best. Most of their parents are in their 50s, some in their 40s the chances of them needing care is almost nil. Other Hardship situations right after getting hired is suspect at best, the agency knows that and denies more hardships to new hires because of that. The FAA is only trying to protect itself by not letting wholesale transfers for marginal reasons to go unchecked. The agency is also part of the problem by telling people they only have positions in the harder to staff facilities and have people accept them hoping they can transfer later. Most people begging for comfort by asking over and over about hardship transfers more than likely already know they don't have a legitimate hardship, the ones that REALLY do aren't asking here and actually getting a transfer. If you even remotely think you could have a real hardship request I suggest you take it up with your union rep instead of asking strangers here. Someone here saying "anything involving you kids moving out of state is a done deal" makes me wonder where that was written. I have never seen that in writing, neither have they. What most people are really asking for is a transfer and that is in the imposed work rules as an ERR. Swaps with others might be back with a real contract too. |

Re: hardship transfer
Posted: 03-14-2009, 01:41 PM Where are you at in the process? If it is before you go to OKC, for some it has been as easy as an email to your HR rep. For others I know they had to fill out an ERR at the end of the academy. If you are not at the academy yet, email your rep and explain your situation.
It is easier if you transfer from enroute to enroute or terminal to termail. Going from enroute to terminal or vice versa is more difficult. |

Re: hardship transfer
Posted: 03-14-2009, 11:59 PM ERR = emergency relocation request?? or something like that. u get to your facility and basically ask for a transfer via ERR. a hardship needs to be legit. something along the lines of you kids being in XX state and u work in YY state. they will try to move u to YY state to make things easier on you and your kids. problem is u can't really BS a hardship move. u have to prove that there is a hardship. but if u can prove it then your chances are 10 times better than an ERR.
