what are some of the pitfalls of the tradiational route? Does it take a while to get on a schedule for an interview? Is the facility that conducts the interview a hold up? Also, same goes for the medical, is it a scheduling issue? Is it the FAA slow to respsond? The reason I ask is that all these things are close by to me, there's even an apprioved atcs ame that lives in my neighborhood.

Interview offer to interview took about 3 weeks. Interview to TOL took about 4 weeks but that was during christmas and new year's. When you get the TOL there are phone numbers to call and they tell you where you will do your medical eval and drug testing, you can give them some input if you live in a metro area but I doubt they would let you hand pick your own AME. I had to do the full medical screen twice due to faulty paperwork on the AME's part, and I had to do a follow up eye exam because the nurse screwed up the test. It doesn't matter if you live between an AME, FAA tower and a drug testing lab, if they screw up your paperwork or you need more tests you're going to be delayed and there's nothing you can do to speed up the process.

Loose wiring in my head. They didn't like some of my answers from my first MMPI so I had to have the tier 2 psych eval - MMPI-2 again, MPCI test, and meeting with a therapist. Therapist wanted to discuss five defined subjects: employment/school history, family history, social history (substance use and relationships), current activities, and future plans.
