Drug Test Questions

I just got told by my HR specialist that he won't be telling me about an academy class date until at least October... because of something to do with next year's hiring or something, I don't know.

Anyways, I forgot to ask him when my drug test expires. I got my drug test like a month ago or more so it's probably going to expire I think.


So most likely, I'll need to just go get another drug test before October and tell them to send it over to the FAA or wait till I'm told about a class date from my HR person?

If they need you to take another one they will let you know. I've read on the forums about needing 3 or 4 drugs tests because they keep expiring.

Mine expired back at the beginning of February and wouldn't you know this one expires a couple days before my Academy date, so I gotta do another one like 3 days prior to my start... or whenever HR calls and lets me know to go do another one.

Oh so you got an call from your H&R about an expired drug test.

Alright then, I just didn't know if I had to do this on my own and send it their way or if they physically needed to tell me when to get it done.

I think I heard at PEPC that the drug tests were good for 6 months. If you have nothing to hide then why worry about something so petty?

Yes. HR will call and will give you a toll free number to call, you choose FAA as the employer and tell them your zip code. They will find the closest location to you and set you an appointment. You go take a leak in a little cup and they do the rest. Your HR rep should get the results within 2 weeks.

I have done 4. They last 6 months. If your test is going to expire before your class date I recommend calling the number on your TOL to schedule a new test ASAP. If you wait for your rep to tell you that you need a new one it will be too late and you may have to miss your class date.

My medical expired on april 27 and I had a class date of Mat 1st. I didn't realize that my medical was expiring and my rep didn't tell me until March 17 that it was expiring. The problem is that it takes at least a month for your medical to come through. April 15 rolls around my rep calls and says they are pulling me out of the may 1st class because my medical had not come through yet. My new class date is Sept 22nd. My medical finally came through on May 6th.

Oh yea HR never filled my May 1st spot so the class is one person short.
