Thanks again for the replys. Do you know how many people will be hired for the opening position? I would like to work in Kentucky or somewhere close, so I'm curious to know if there are any openings in these states or a way to check. Is there something I can read or study before I take the test in order to achieve a high score?

JThurm,

I graduated with a degree in marketing also. Applying OTS nowadays is a real longshot i was told so i went back to school and went thru the CTI program.......which was a good choice b/c i got to study the .65 (federal atc manual) and work on simulators. if ur not close to 31, and u really wanna be a controller bite the bullet and go thru a CTI program.

No one really knows how many positions will be available for the upcoming PUBNATS, nor if they will even for sure have another OTS announcement. Your best bet is to contact some of the areas you would like to work and ask them about there current staffing levels, they may or may not tell you.

As far as studying goes, I would look for the green book....check some of the stickys on here and you will find some great info.

Where did you go to school NJA? After you completed the program did you find a job right off the bat or did the school find a job for you?

I just got hired OTS for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International. I finally get to move back to Kentucky, and i'm happy. So it is possible. But I don't know what the future can hold. When I did my interview the other week in Chicago, my interviewer did tell me that they were hiring less people this year, than the previous.

I wouldn't personally 'bank' on going through OTS though. It's a crap shoot at best. Since you just graduated from UofL, I was to say that you are probably mid-twenties. So I personally suggest what someone else did mention, biting the bullet and going the CTI route. Have a much better chance at that, than leaving it up to the OTS announcements. When/If they do come out with anymore.

well for starters I would Apply to Pubnat 8, its open right now, I got picked up OTS PUBNAT 2 and am still waiting for an OKC date, so its not impossible to get picked up, just study the green book for the test and you will be fine. Just make sure you have patience in this whole process because you will be doing alot of waiting!!! I would find a job in the mean time or go to CTI.
