I stayed at Winchester Run from mid-May until late September 2009 while I attended en route training at the Academy.

Overall, Winchester Run is a nice place to stay, provided you're not after the amenities that some of the other (often more expensive) housing providers include. It is located in a good part of town, and is conveniently located to the Academy, shopping and restaurants. It has easy freeway access and there is much less traffic to cope with than some of the more popular housing complexes on the northwest side of town.

Miss Betty and her staff are very friendly and are very responsive to any needs or concerns you may have. My first room was a little less than desirable (it had evidently been smoked in and had an odd odor as a result) and I was quickly offered another room when I made mention of it. My new room was clean, quiet, and had plenty of room (I had the larger 1 bedroom).

During my stay, many of the units were in the process of being remodeled, including new carpet, paint and appliances. Washer and dryer units were not in the room I was staying in, but were being added to the units as they were vacated. I was told that the buildings getting the washer/dryer units were to become FAA only as existing residents moved out. In any event, Miss Betty provides money for the laundromat to anyone attending the Academy if your room does not have a washer/dryer. Furniture was relatively new, though the style conscious may find it a little dated. My only real problem was that the mattresses, while nearly brand new, were so inexpensive that they did not hold up very well and by the time I had left, it was visibly bowed. On the outside, the buildings could use some paint and new windows, but it is well maintained overall. The exterior appearance is the only real reason why I gave it 4 stars for cleanliness instead of 5.

While there are little in the way of amenities on site, residents here get free tokens to the driving range down the street, and First Baptist Church of Moore, less than 5 minutes away, makes their gym available for free to anyone staying there.

Overall, I recommend Winchester Run and would probably stay there again should I find myself in OKC again.

I stayed at Winchester Run during Spring of 2009. I chose to stay there because they did not charge the full per diem rate so I was able to put the small difference towards some of my bills I had at home while I was in OKC. There was nothing particularly great about this place, but there was nothing bad about it either. There are definitely nicer places available to FAA students but they will use up all of your per diem money. You get what you pay for so don't expect anything fancy but there is nothing wrong with this place. I always felt safe and knew that if I needed anything the front office would help me in any way they could.

Stayed Sep-Nov 09, 15 min to MMAC with traffic. Quiet, Clean, new appliances, wash/dryer combo in the One bedroom Studio I'm in.

-Area appears safe-South of OKC and North of Moore, kind of in an area that is sparslely populated and Very quiet. Park and Police Station across the street. Churches on either side. Police officer/Apartment courtesy Officer lives on site. Those into RC racing, track(indoor-outdoor)/hobby store across street.

-On the MMAC bus route.

-No problems that were not taken care of right away. Jason, Ms. Betty and Beverly are great you ask and you shall recieve. Gym access, Thrus. night dinners I cant forget buckets of beer!

-Only negitive I can come up with- kitchen needs more cooking/baking pans and utensils.

I would recommend this place and will be back during further training. Just read negitive stories of the other places. Also heard from classmates.

I highly recommend Winchester Run. The whole community has been dealing with FAA students for a very long time and will help you on the drop of a dime. I truly enjoyed my experience here and looking forward to the time I can come back for more training and make Winchester Run my home away from home. Ms. Betty was awesome....the biggest plus about Winchester Run is being able to pocket some of your per diem money compared to these other places that take the entire amount...plus Winchester Run is on the bus route and located in a great area of town that is close to anything you want to do!

I wanted to take a few minutes to write a review on Winchester Run. I had a great experience at this place. I had a roommate the whole time so we ended up only paying $30.00 per day each. I was able to save around $50.00 per day the whole time I was there which made a huge difference when I left Oklahoma City.

I also found Winchester Run to be much better maintained than a lot of the other housing providers in the area. Ms. Betty Rocks....she is the coolest person I have ever met and has some great stories. She will do absolutely anything for you and she is also an awesome cook.

I can't say enough about this place and when I return for RTF I will surely be back to Winchester Run.

If you wanna save a ton of money and have a great place to live, Winchester Run is where its' at!

Having recently completed a 7-week stay (mid-Feb to early-April 2010) at Winchester Run, I would have to highly recommend it to others. The management staff, Miss Betty and Miss Beverly, were very responsive in getting the two maintenance issues I encountered (smoke alarm, air conditioner) resolved. Climate control in my studio apartment was very good. The coffee table, night stand, dresser, and cookware were all of better-than-average quality. The bed was comfortable as well. It was evident that the carpet was fairly recently replaced, the walls painted, and the blinds looked new. Though not as nice overall as Fairways at Moore, it doesn't cost nearly as much either. It is also closer to the Academy than Fairways. The staff serves dinner to FAA students every Thursday. On one dinner we were given New York Strip steaks. This area of the OKC metroplex has always been preferable to me because of its security, proximity to major restaurants (Applebees, Red Lobster, etc.), office supply stores, Wal-Mart and Tinker AFB. The FAA shuttle service also serves Winchester and is very convenient for students. If I ever return to OK for a long-term TDY, I'll be staying at Winchester Run!

Overall:
First time in OKC and I found Winchester Run to be a nice place to stay and I would suggest it to anyone. I'll be staying there again.
Pros:
Lisa and Kirsten were very friendly and helpful while I was getting oriented to OK City.
They offer free Thursday dinners and are a nice change from a fast food routine.
They offer a package deal that includes a car, however, recent changes in FAA policy may not allow you to take advantage of it.
I liked the gym at the First Baptist Church at Moore-2 racketball courts, 2 basketball courts, walking track, free weights, low impact orbital, 3 treadmills and plenty of nautilis machines. Area around W.R. has no congestion and convenient to everything/everywhere. Several people in my class relocated to W.R. after we compared notes on what they had.
New washer/dyer, kitchen was clean and barely used, other rooms were clean. W.R. is in a nice location. I like the wired internet much better than wireless connection: better connection and faster download speeds.
Cons:
Stoveware could be improved.
I'd like to have a desk near the internet connection so you don't have to use the coffee table.

I am really pleased for having chosen Winchester Run instead the complex where all my colleagues are staying now.
Here I find everything I need. The apartment is clean, spacious, well equipped, quiet and safe!!
There is a police station just across the street, and PLENTY of stores at a short distance. Walmart is like 2 min out. It takes 10 min to get to FAA, and 15 if you take the shuttle bus.
And it is only 60/day, for 2 bd, 2 bathrooms apt. It is indeed a good deal.
The pool is closed, due to the weather. Not that I was really planning to model my brazilian bikini/tanned body.
Lisa, the manager, is a very nice person and she is giving me all support I need. The minor issues we ve found already she managed it to be solved at the same day. I wish the office has its hour extended for another 30 minutes. So I could have more time to talk to her about everything. But she is also available by phone or you find Bredan, her assistant I believe, that provides you all you need.
I wanted a quiet place to stay here. I thought like... I am going to spend so many time in class.. when I get home I want some privacy and peace.. not to be all day long together with all colleagues.
I am renting a car, a Dodge Durango from Budget. I m in love with this BIG boy.. nice car! less than 1,000 for 32 days. I passed the insurance coverage. My credit car covers everything. So I am able to drive around and explore everything Oklahoma offers..
I wake up at 6:30am, make my coffee, get myself ready and close the door at 7:20.. the driver is always punctual. 7:24 he is here, on sunny or rainy mornings!
I don't know why people choose that other complex to stay, they complain about the food, it s far, there is not much around, you pay more for the apartment.. ok, you have flat screen tv, breakfast, dinner(all colleagues told me its bad), ducks.. lake.. pool.. gym facility, but I would not use any of them...
