Re: Montgomery Tracon Questions..
Posted: 08-17-2009, 02:40 PM I fly Pipers and Cessna's into there from Birmingham every now and then, just flew down there a week or so ago. It's a TRSA, and I always talk to approach when entering their airspace. Really friendly controllers. Whenever I get my clearance, I switch to ground, then tower, its all the same guy haha. They are never really busy, they get a lot of C-130s doing missed approaches and military stuff like that though. Maxwell AFB is like 5 miles right next door to them.

Thanks for the response. However my questions are more oriented to the radar positions. There are three positions that I know of, North, South and Final. But I need to know where the lateral and vertical boundaries are for each radar position according to the current flow operation (west, east). In the pic below you see can see the external boundary of the Rapcon. BTW, is it still called a Rapcon? Or do they now call it a Tracon? |

Re: Montgomery Tracon Questions..
Posted: 01-28-2010, 09:32 AM I dont work at MGM but Im at BHM, we border them on our south side so I talk to them daily. If you have a specific question I can give them a call this week and try to get an answer for you. As far as where their sectors are divided, I can't really say but I will see if we have a map of their airspace in our training room.
