Posted: 05-07-2009, 05:52 PM So did the pilot not know the MOA was hot? I know I would have done that if I were in the F16!
"Yes Sir, that was part of my training Route and he was in my way, SIR!" :P |

Re: Radar Video of F16 close call with GA aircraft
Posted: 05-08-2009, 02:46 PM Yea man i have moas here and texas and i always tell the pilots the moas are active 8k to fl230. They are always like roger we are lookin some prefer to decend below it. T45's also do mess with the other aircraft that fly through there. If i understood it right the learjet n929ss was vfr at 155 or so and had to climb up 3k feet and passed 180 cuz he was scared...can't be vfr at that altitude so the guy said you need to come back down..

Re: Radar Video of F16 close call with GA aircraft
Posted: 05-08-2009, 06:22 PM It's bullshit in England you get aircraft that need 5 miles or 3,000' from all targets and you have no airspace it's all shared basically a gigantic MOA so you would get Tornados that would lock on and chase AMC cargo type and there's no way to separate because they just make a B-line and overtake.
I never did my OJT in the states so why do pilots file through MOAs? Why do controllers give clearance into/through active MOAs? It's like the operations are VFR so they treat the airspace as VFR and don't protect it? Why didn't he at least get a traffic advisory? That's what I'm sayin. |
