prior to going to oakland center i was a 10 year tower only kind of guy. i was a few months from turning 31 so i had to take zoa. i absolutely hate the en route environment. there's no way to tell if you would like it or not. i work with many tower guys that hate the centers. a bunch have flat out quit and reapplied in hopes of getting a tower. i know that part of the reason is the ridiculous cost of living in the bay area and the new "nontract".
phoenix tower is NOT an up/down. P50, although now located at the base of the new tower, is not a dual rating facility. PHX tower is stand alone and one of the top 10 busiest in the nation. when i used to work in phoenix (not PHX) they were 6 or 7th busiest.
good luck in your decision. rest assured that the choices you have are both sweet choices.
