could've been a tape talk. you don't need to advise the controller that your doing it. i'm guessing that's what it was, since it took 2 weeks to pull the guys ticket. skill checks are quick and the results are instant. tape talks might happen a week or two after the actual instance in question.

Nah, my understanding is that the FLM told him he found it during a performance skill check. Needless to say, it's being grieved.

It's frustrating because it could happen to any of us. The stuff that he was nailed on is easy for anyone to miss because 80% of the traffic we work comes from flight schools teaching foreign students and their English is poor at best and half the time they don't know which airplane they're flying in anyway...
