Was it the part that Taco Bell managers make $120,000
Because some CPC's under the IWR's do. Before you get your panties in a bunch again, I did mention that I don't feel the IWR pay is commensurate with the work we do.
Maybe the part of the message that I didn't get was "the Democratic Congress couldn’t stand the fact that some of the oldest controllers in the busiest facilities made *GASP* almost as much money as a newly-elected freshman Congressman". Of course if I wasn't playing with my son's "crayola" and watching "Picture Pages" I may have noticed what the rest of the free world noticed that it was a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS.
Oh no, I know the part that I didn't get...it was the fact that controllers are either "Bible thumpers or the drunks". Of course what would I know. I have only been a military, contract and FAA Level 12 CPC...I couldn't possibly know if the majority of controllers fit into these 2.
The only part that I feel I may be in the small minority about is the fact that I don't think the job sucks. I did preface that with it depends on where you are and who you are and didn't try to make it an absolute statement as this person attempted.
Yep, I didn't get his message...I probably got so lost in the B.S. that I couldn’t see it.
BTW, were you hired before or after Sep 2006

I think your right about liking your job. I LOVE this profession and job, however I'm not really happy with my current facility. Does that mean I hate being a controller
Of course not. I don't even hate it because of the pay. It has little to do with the pay I'm getting right now. It has everything to do with the facility your at. You can't continue to hate this job because 3 years ago "we" were making 30% more than we are now. You either love it or you don't. The pay is just a way to continue loving this job.
Archie has hit the nail on the head with his comments. Oh yeah, we're not all drunks OR bible thumpers. Some of us are drunks AND bible thumpers.
