I am in the Air Force, so I did not know that. Currently, I work five days on for 8 hours then I have the weekend off. We also switch who works on Sundays and I have to pull that shift on a month. I know I have it easy. Reference your work schedule, is that the way most controllers now a days are working, or are they getting two days off a week (I am looking for the majority)
Also, what kind of shifts do you work Are they a 2-2-1 with a forward rotation (mornings, afternoon, one night) or the other way around (nights, afternoon, mornings)

i would say MAJORITY is still getting their weekends off. i would venture to say around 25% of controllers at my facility are doing overtime at least once a month. some are doing more, by choice.

we work a reverse rotating (opposite of the AF) schedule. 1500, 1300, 0800, 0700, 0700. 2 people on every crew is swapping out the last 0700 for a 2300 (mid). so on their "thursday" they go home at 1400, and come back at 2300. that's right...an 8 hour break. 8 hours is all that is required in the civilian world. we had it nice in the AF and it's 12 hour required crew rest break.

anyway, hope this helps a little.
