nsu7, that was a great bit of knowledge. Do you have any recomendadtions of places to try and stay, or is more an effort to just find a place Do you use the Shuttles or rent a car any other tips or knowledge would be great. I am currently looking at getting into an RTF class, is the class really only 18 days. I thought it would be considered a long term stay. I think they mentioned slots available for mid-march when I last spoke to my POC.

The list above is a great bunch of resources. The walnut gardens are very fine and I would guess the apple tree and spanish gardens are like quality since they seem to be run by the same company. I've heard really mixed reviews about the meridan mansions, some fine, some bullet holes and rats...

I use the shuttle, it's a little bit longer than driving b/c of the various stops, but it's free so it's not a bad deal by far.

Now about the course length, Sending VRAs who are bound for a stand alone TRACON to the 37 day basic course would be news to me. I think that that course is for OTS or anyone else they deem to not have any (enough... ) experience. It is a solid fact that if you're going to a tower only and you've got a chain of CTOs it doesn't matter you're going to the tower course now...

I will say that there is a chance that they may also include you in the 9 day "Intro To Radar Control" course which isn't the worst of things...

With the long vs. short term the apartments go based on total calendar time you'll be there. Anything over a month is long term, but with 18 day course, it's so close to 30 calendar days I think most of them are willing to work with you. Also, the day before you're class, and the day after your class are counted in your stay at Oak City...

tips take advantage of the free snack buffett on Wednesdays starting at 4pm that's about all I can think of...
