The total cost to attend Duke this coming school year, including room and board, will be $45,121, an increase of 4.6 percent from 2006-07

That being said, the FAA is a terrible place to work and the pay is not what it should be. There are no books to read and nothing to do to prepare. Just apply and get on the job training.
Not sure what you mean by shadowing, but I am sure you can arrange a tour of a facility.

Thanks for the quote on Duke's education costs - unfortunately, I am well aware of that as I am paying back school loans now and for the next 30 years
The problem is that I really want to get a job that I am satisfied with and I am willing to make sacrifices at first regarding pay. Eventually, I do feel I should be compensated for my work and from the FAA website, it seems that average pay is pretty high. Is this not true
See quote from the website below:
Air traffic controllers earn relatively high pay and have good benefits. Median annual earnings of air traffic controllers in May 2006 were $117,240. The middle 50 percent earned between $86,860 and $142,210. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $59,410, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $145,600. The average annual salary, excluding overtime earnings, for air traffic controllers in the Federal Government—which employs 90 percent of all controllers—was $122,220 in May 2006.
Are you an ATC
If so, do you like it
Isn't it a challenging job
