That being said, If you leave the comfort of your curent job you could regret it. Things have changed over the last bunch of years.
FCT's usually give you 30 days to check out and the operational tempo mixed with a steep learning curve has been the undoing of lots of folks. In most cases, you could be extended beyond 30 days if you were close.
I'm not puting you or the Army ATC program down but I were in your shoes, I would be very careful not to gamble my family's well being on a want to control again.
Best of luck to you.

I see wht you mean, Ripper. Even when I was an Army ATC, there were a few questionable controllers. I sometimes wondered what crackerjack box some of them got their license from. Having said that, I do realize that there are some areas the Army has exiting, busy, and fast paced inbound and outbound flights that are IFR, so you have to coordinate departures, arrivals, and sequence for spacing, etc. Even with that, mixed traffic with fast movers, it is not the same as a Navy or Air Force type controller, which is alot more involved. That is a good point. I always thought that I was a little more natural at it than others, with a fast learning capability.
